Canibus Album on the way!
Canibus has announced the release of a new independent album titled C of Tranquility, which will be the lyricists 10th official album.
C of Tranquility will be released on Interdependent Media, which has released records by K'Naan, Tanya Morgan, Finale, Moe Green and J*DaVeY.
The new album contains 15 brand new tracks with titles like "Free Words," "The Messenger's Message" and "Merchant of Metaphors."
C of Tranquility contains production by DJ Premier, Jake One, Scram Jones, The Bizness, Slopfunkdust and The Bizness.
The album hits stores October 5th.
Bucs Update. Derrick Brooks Retires
All-time great Bucs LB Derrick Brooks made his retirement from the NFL official. Brooks was released by Tampa Bay in February of 2009. Some teams showed interest in Brooks, but no team signed him last season. Brooks has remained active in the community. The Bucs will have a retirement ceremony at One Buc Place on Thursday.
One of the greatest players in Buccaneers history called it a career. Linebacker Derrick Brooks retired after playing in 14 seasons. Brooks was released by the Bucs in February of 2009, and was out of the NFL last year. After sitting out a year, the 37-year old Brooks made his retirement official on his website, DerrickBrooks.TV.
"This is my official retirement announcement," Brooks said. "I simply want to say thank you to all of you fans that supported Derrick Brooks as well as the Buccaneers throughout my 14 years."
Brooks went on to thank his family, Bucs ownership, his former coaches, teammates, singling out former defensive tackle Warren Sapp, cornerback Ronde Barber and former defensive end Simeon Rice. A special retirement ceremony will be held at One Buccaneer Place on Thursday.
Brooks played all 14 seasons in Tampa Bay where he became the franchise's all-time leading tackler with 2,196. In 1998 Brooks had a personal high tackle total with 189. That was the fifth-highest single season total in Bucs history. He also has the fifth highest total of interceptions in franchise history with 25 interceptions returned for 530 yards and six touchdowns. Brooks had seven total defensive touchdowns, which is second in franchise history behind cornerback Ronde Barber's 13 touchdowns by a defensive player (11 on defense and two on special teams).
During his Bucs career Brooks was extremely durable. The Florida State product Brooks played in 224 games for Tampa Bay. The most of any player in franchise history. Brooks went to 11 Pro Bowls in those 14 seasons, and his most recent appearance was for his final season when he was an injury replacement.
Brooks was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in the 2002 season when the Buccaneers won their only Super Bowl Championship. That season Brooks became the only linebacker in NFL history to have three interceptions returned for a touchdown. He scored four touchdowns in the regular season, and then another in the Super Bowl that sealed the victory for Tampa Bay.
In 2008 Brooks was hampered by injuries, but still started every game for the 13th straight season. He finished second on the team in tackles with 111. Brooks also had seven tackles for a loss, one interception, one forced fumble, and eight passes defensed in his final season.
While Brooks will be always be remembered in Tampa Bay for his great play on the field, he also is treasured for his philanthropy off the field. Brooks started a charter school in Tampa, among many projects and charity work he did in the Tampa Bay area. Even though he was no longer a Buccaneer, Brooks has continued to stay active in the Tampa Bay community.

Number 55 is finally calling it quits.
After being away from the game for the last year and a half, Derrick Brooks has officially announced his retirement from the National Football League. For 14 seasons Brooks wore pewter and red. He was the face of the Buccaneers. And today, after a legendary career, he said goodbye.
"Today is a special day," said head coach Raheem Morris. "One of our legends walked away from the game and officially hung up the cleats. He did a lot of great things. He was a so-to-speak superhero, in our eyes, with what he was able to do with the Bucs and how he was able to carry this band for so long."
And what a superhero he was. Brooks was the heart and soul of the Buccaneers for many years. He was not only a vocal leader, but a productive one as well. During his career in the NFL, Brooks was a nine-time All-Pro and 11-time Pro Bowl selection. So, what happens now?
"I guess you just countdown the days ‘til he gets to Canton," said middle linebacker Barrett Ruud. "He probably had about as good of a career as a linebacker could have. He's won every individual award and has been at the biggest two team awards a football player could get with a National Championship and a Super Bowl."
The Buccaneers drafted Brooks out of Florida State with the No. 28 overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft. Brooks, along with defensive tackle Warren Sapp (the Bucs drafted Sapp with the No. 12 overall pick that same year) helped build the Bucs into winners and brought them to a level that the franchise had never seen before.
"When we started being successful it was because of him and Warren," said former linebacker and current Pro Scout for the Buccaneers Shelton Quarles. "They did a great job of getting us to a place that we have never been before. So, when I look back on his legacy I remember him as being one of the cornerstones of the foundation."
Quarles was a teammate of Brooks' for 10 years from 1997-2006. Their friendship, along with the way he approached the game of football, is what Quarles will remember most about Brooks.
"He was a great friend first and foremost and the just camaraderie we had with one another [is what I'll remember]. How we moved on the field and [he showed me] how to be the ultimate pro," said Quarles. "He came to work everyday with his hard hat on and was ready to start digging. So, I appreciate his work ethic and what he did to prepare for the games both in the classroom and on the field."
That work ethic is what allowed Brooks to enjoy so much success on the field. The stats that Brooks amassed are immense. During his career, Brooks recorded 2,198 tackles, 25 interceptions, 24 forced fumbles, 13.5 sacks, and 112 passes defensed. He also scored eight defensive touchdowns. In 2002, Brooks was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year and he lead the Buccaneers to their first and only Super Bowl Championship against the Oakland Raiders. That year is Morris' most fond memory of Brooks.
"Favorite? It has to be the six times he walked into the endzone in '02..." said Morris. "Other than that, there are too many special moments regarding Derrick Brooks. He was just one of the guys that mentored everybody. [He mentored] coaches. He mentored players...He was just the ultimate, motivated self-starter as far as our organization.
"When we lost to the Eagles in 2002, he told them that we would be back. Everybody in the lockerroom was angry and a little salty, but he knew we'd be back and we went back there and we beat them. And he was right."
Running Back Cadillac Williams played with Brooks for four seasons. His favorite memory of the weakside linebacker was on his first day as a pro.
"My favorite memory of D. Brooks on the field is when we always ran inside zone," said Williams. "I remember the first day I got here. That morning, we were in pads and I pressed the line of scrimmage and cutback on him and Brooks never gets beat on cutbacks. He is always there and he said, ‘You know what rook? You got me on that one, but you won't get me again.' And every time we ran that play, he was always yelling, ‘Hey! Hey! I'm right here!' So, that's what I remember."
Even with all the stats and accomplishments that he earned throughout the years, Brooks remained humble and was always ready to lend a helping hand to everyone around him.
"He was a great teammate," Ruud said. "He was a guy that went out of his way to help other people. He would show young guys how to do things. He was very approachable for a guy who was somewhat considered a superstar."
Ruud joined the Bucs in 2005 and immediately looked to Brooks for advice on how to improve his game.
"He was always very open for questions and I took advantage of it too," said Ruud. "I asked him as much stuff as I could and I still do now. Even though now it is probably less about football and more about other things, but I still ask a lot of questions."
Despite being cut by the Bucs in February of 2009 with other veterans Warrick Dunn, Joey Galloway, Ike Hillard, and Cato June, Brooks still has a presence that is felt by the players that are currently in the lockerroom.
"He is still in heavy contact with all of my players and is still in heavy contact with myself... He is one of our biggest guys and one of our biggest supporters," Morris said.
One of those guys is current weakside linebacker Geno Hayes. The Bucs drafted Hayes in the 2008 and the two hit it off right away. Why? Like Brooks, Hayes went to school at Florida State.
"He has meant a great deal to me," Hayes said. "He has taught me a lot of the small tricks to the trade. Just really being around him and watching him as a man and what he does off the field, it taught me to be humble about the situation I am in and to just go about things as a grown man. Just the one year of playing with him [meant a lot] and he has taught me a whole lot."
While some may view him as the heir to Brooks' spot, Hayes knows that no can ever replace a guy like Brooks.
"You really can't fill those shoes," said Hayes. "He's Derrick Brooks. He's the only Derrick Brooks out there so you can't really fill those shoes."
As good as he was on it, Brooks was equally impressive with what he did off the field. Brooks is well beloved in the Tampa Bay community, establishing Derrick Brooks Charities and heading the founding of the Brooks-DeBartolo Collegiate High School in Tampa. He also was named co-recipient of the prestigious Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award in 2000.
"The guy as had a good of a career as you could have and he is probably even a better person," Ruud said.
It is all those wonderful qualities that made Brooks such a success. It is also the reason why he may not be totally done with football. Morris believes Brooks could have a future coaching - possibly with the Bucs.
"There is nothing in this building Derrick can't do," said Morris. "With his time hear with the Buccaneers, he could be the GM. He could be the head coach. He could be a linebackers coach. He can tell you how to work it, how to run it, what we can do, and what we should do because that is just the type of person he is. I think he would be a great coach. A lot of times great players have a hard time dealing with patience, but that was never one of his flaws... So coaching, if he chooses to, could certainly be in his future."
I know one thing that is in his future.
A first-ballot ticket into the NFL Hall-of-Fame.
T.O. toughest camp
Terrell Owens has been through eight training camps with the 49ers, two with the Eagles, three with the Cowboys and one with the Bills. But Owens says none of those camps has been as difficult as the one he's going through right now with the Bengals.
"No camp I've been to has been easy. This ranks in the top toughest that I've been through," Owens said. "I think that's partially because of the way they schedule things. There's not as many breaks between periods and as far as when I have to do stuff with the offense."
The good news for the Bengals is that (unlike 2005 in Philadelphia) Owens isn't making training camp tough on the team. Owens says this camp is tough in large part because of how hard he's working to learn the Bengals' offense.
"Every day is going to be different," Owens said. "Some days I spend extra time in my room looking over plays or after meetings talking about certain routes and formation. I'm still trying to get adjusted to alignment adjustments, my spots on the field on certain routes and combinations with certain formations."
Owens added that once he has the offense down, "we'll get better."

Police sources and sources close to the investigation say Barrino was found in the closet of the Glynmoor Lakes neighborhood home and she was taken to Mercy South Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville. She had taken a potentially LETHAL mix of over the counter drugs.

During one of the worst national recessions the government has decided to cut $12 billion from the Food Stamp fund, potentially effecting 41 million Americans.
In the midst of Michelle Obama’s campaign to eat well, the Government has decided to help its citizens do just the opposite.
House members convened Tuesday to pass the multibillion-dollar bailout bill for cash-strapped states. The Bill requires that $12 billion be stripped from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as food stamps, to help fund programs that provide $10 billion to school districts. The money will be used to rehire laid-off teachers or ensure that more teachers won’t be let go before the new school year begins, keeping more than 160,000 teachers on the job, the Obama administration says.
Connecticut Rep. Rosa DeLauro, blasted the move as “a bitter pill to swallow” but still voted yes.
“I fought very hard for the food assistance money in the Recovery Act, and the fact is that participation in the food stamps program has jumped dramatically with the economic crisis, from 31.1 million persons to 38.2 million just in one year,” DeLauro said in an e-mail sent to FoxNews.com. “But I know that states across the nation and my own state of Connecticut also desperately need these resources to save jobs and avoid Draconian cuts to essential services for low income families.”
The Food Research and Action Center said a family of four would see benefits drop about $59 per month starting in 2014.
According to U.S. Department of Agriculture figures, the number of people on the food stamp rolls has been growing to record levels for 18 straight months. Nearly $5.5 billion in aid went out to beneficiaries in May alone. The number of May recipients marked a 19 percent increase from a year ago and the USDA projects that next year’s enrollment will reach about 43.4 million.
The Obama administration has pushed hard for the $26 billion bill. The White House argued that it is essential to protecting 300,000 teachers and other nonfederal government workers from election-year layoffs and will not add to the national deficit.
“If we do nothing, these educators won’t be returning to the classroom this fall, and that won’t just deprive them of a paycheck, it will deprive the children and parents who are counting on them to provide a decent education,” Obama said in the White House Rose Garden shortly before the bill’s passed on Tuesday.
“This proposal is fully paid for, in part by closing tax loopholes that encourage corporations that ships American jobs overseas. So it will not add to our deficit,” he said. “And the money will only go toward saving the jobs of teachers and other essential professionals…I urge members of both parties to come together and get this done, so that I can sign this bill into law.”

A flight attendant who was arrested after arguing with a passenger on a JetBlue flight -- making a grand exit from the aircraft by grabbing some beers and pulling the emergency chute -- is being held on $2,500 bail.
Jet Blue employee Steven Slater, 38, of Belle Harbor, Queens, was arraigned today on reckless endangerment and other charges after the dramatic incident Monday afternoon.
Court house sources tell NBCNewYork that Slater was overheard saying "he's not sure how quickly he can make bail." If he does not post bail by this afternoon he will be transferred to the jail at Rikers Island. Either way, he is due back in court on Sept. 7.
Slater was working on Flight 1052 from Pittsburgh to Kennedy Airport, which landed at around 12 p.m. Monday, when he got into a verbal altercation with a passenger, law-enforcement sources said.
Airline Steward at JFK Pulls Emergency Chute -- and Runs for It
Following a heated exchange, the flight attendant told off the entire plane on the public address system, activated an emergency chute near the back of the plane and jumped down the evacuation slide and ran for it.
The Assistant District Attorney said today the altercation began before the plane left Pittsburgh, when two passengers got in an argument over an oversized piece of luggage and the overhead compartments.
At the arraignment, defense attorney Howard Turman said Slater was under stress because his mother has lung cancer. Afterward, he provided reporters with a different account of what happened aboard the aircraft than the version initially offered by authorities.
Police had said Slater became when after a rule-breaking passenger defied requests to stay seated then accidentally hit him in the head with her luggage.
Turman said the dispute had begun earlier, when the flight was still waiting to take off from Pittsburgh, when two female passengers got into an argument over space in the overhead bins. That's when Slater was struck in the head, Turman said.
The dispute flared up again after the plane landed in New York when one of the women, who had been asked to gate-check her bag, was enraged that it wasn't immediately available.
"The woman was outraged and cursed him out a great deal," Turman said. "At some point, I think he just wanted to avoid conflict with her."
Slater asked for an apology but the irate passenger cursed him out, saying in effect "go f--k yourself" and calling him a "mo-fo," according to law enforcement source
Turman said the woman "cursed him out using the f-word both as a verb and an adjective."
Prosecutors said that at some point, Slater addressed the passengers on the intercom.
"Those of you who have shown dignity and respect these last 20 years, thanks for a great ride," he said, according to prosecutors.
Slater then activated the aircraft emergency slide on door R-2, proceeded to the chute, looked down to ensure that nobody was below it as he had been trained to do, and he deployed the device and went down it safely, his attorney said.
He also grabbed some beer from the galley before he took the plunge and then headed for the AirTrain, where other passengers from the flight reportedly saw him on the way home.
Slater was later arrested at his home in Belle Harbor by Port Authority officials. Police sources said that when authorities found Slater he seemed to be in the midst having sexual relations.
He is being charged with 2nd-and 4th-degree criminal mischief, 1st- and 2nd-degree reckless endangerment and criminal trespass in the 3rd degree, according to a spokeswoman for Queens DA Richard Brown. Slater faces up to 7 years in prison if convicted.
Judge Mary O'Donoghue also granted an order of protection preventing Slater from contacting the pilot of the flight or a JetBlue employee who investigated the incident.
Prosecutors said the emergency escape slide deploys at 3,000 pounds of pressure per square inch and "causes a risk of serious physical injury or death if it strikes people working under the aircraft." They also said the cost to replace the escape slide is $25,000, according to Jet Blue security.
But no one was injured in the incident and JetBlue, in a statement, added, "At no time was the security or safety of our customers or crew members at risk."
Slater, who worked for Delta before JetBlue, had been a flight attendant for 20 years.

I have to be the one to say "Ew..." Fantasia is going to have a sex tape released pretty soon. Well, basically, this dude "Cook" that she was/is messing with has a wife. Anyway, Cook dude's wife now says that there is a sex tape of Fantasia somewhere. The wife says that Fantasia rubbed it in her face that she stole her man, but has publicly denied an affair. BUT, she does have "COOK" tatted on her upper torso. She met dude in a T-Mobile store. How does this happen? Did I mention that North Carolina is one of seven states in the USA that has a ''home wrecker'' law.
