The Bucs have announced that they will be limiting the number of training camp practices that will be open to the public in 2010, but those practices will feature enhanced viewing, more photo and autograph sessions with the team. The Bucs will also have an open night practice at RJS along with a fireworks show on Aug. 7.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced a streamlined schedule in which the public will be able to view training camp at One Buccaneer Place this summer. Last year, all practices were open to the public, but there were some issues with fans not having great sight lines to the action and limited access to the players.
Bucs director of communications Jonathan Grella said that the fan experience will be better at the 2010 training camp, which commences on July 31, even though fewer practices will be open to the public.
"Incorporating fan feedback and an organizational review of last year's inaugural Training Camp at One Buc Place, we have designed a more streamlined public schedule with more entertaining views, action, and access," said Grella. "This year's public offering provides the up-close, full-team, padded practices – as well as more extensive autograph and photo opportunities – that our fans most enjoy. We will closely monitor Camp and gladly open additional dates, if needed."
After the first week of training camp, attendance was sparse at most practices, so the Bucs organization is likely contracting the open dates according to demand. This year's public calendar includes morning, afternoon, evening and weekend opportunities for fans to come see the team practice.
One aspect of last year's training camp that was popular was the night practice held at Raymond James Stadium. The Bucs will do that again on Saturday, August 7 and will have a free fireworks show after practice in addition to $1 hot dogs and soft drinks that night.
In addition to more extensive photo and autograph opportunities, discounted concessions and a merchandise tent at training camp, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleaders and Captain Fear mascot will make regular appearances.
Fans must have complimentary tickets to attend training camp once again, and can get those by registering for One Buc Club on Buccaneers.com. One Buc Club members will be emailed information on how to select tickets for the training camp dates and times they want to attend. Free tickets will also be available at One Buc Place on the day of a camp practice, as long as it is not sold out due to advance orders by One Buc Club members.
