Me and the girl took some pics where this dude just died.
A 31-year-old Tampa man drowned Tuesday evening near the Clearwater Pier.
According to officials, Prafull V. Khachane was swimming with his wife and another couple at about 6 p.m.
Khachane was about 100 yards from shore when he began struggling.
One witness said Khachane's wife began asking for help while he was still in the water.
"This lady came up to me and asked me if I could swim,' said Clayton Dorsa, who added the tides were strong Tuesday. "She said that her husband had been out swimming and he had been under for a while and he hadn't come back out. I went out and tried to find him."
Khachane was pulled to shore by firefighters, who tried to revive him.
He was pronounced dead Tuesday night at Morton Plant Hospital.
